How do you follow up a conference filled with Pure Imagination? By Defying Gravity! Our next semi-annual conference is approaching and I am extremely excited to welcome you to the product of the hard work and collaboration of so many wonderful folks. We have been defying gravity all year long and we do not intend to stop now. Do not miss your opportunity to join us in Louisville, Kentucky for what promises to be another memorable conference!
As always, we are thankful for the work of our conference Co-Chairs Chester Priest and Roxy Lewis, as they lead an amazing conference lineup. Back by popular demand, KASFAA is offering pre-&-post conference opportunities to attend NASFAA U training events, with the option to earn nationally recognized credentials. There is also the option for folks to attend the New Aid Officers Workshop that is available for your offices' new or upcoming financial aid administrators. Whether you are brand new to the profession or increasing your skill sets, we have the added events to maximize your professional development dollars.
The main conference is packed. Megan McClean Coval with our National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators will be joining us to provide an insider's perspective on the policies shaping up in Washington, DC. Kentucky's very own SASFAA President-Elect, Bryan Erslan will keep us up to date on the latest activities and opportunities within our region. In addition, we will have two special guests from GASFAA: President Stephen Anderson and President-Elect Amber Singletary. As we continue our focus on student advocacy, Erin Howard, Latino Outreach Director for Bluegrass Community & Technical College, will be presenting the issues surrounding Kentucky's Dreamer population. And on top of our informative Federal Update with our most-beloved Fed, David Bartnicki we are excited to announce that we are also welcoming back Department of Education guru, Wood Mason. You will not be disappointed.
In addition, the Board wanted to try something new by making this conference's charity one that will benefit you-the membership. We are working hard behind the scenes on a new scholarship account for members seeking the opportunity for professional development beyond what KASFAA can offer. Our focus, this entire year, has been you. We hope, when you see the final details, you will be more engaged, more proud of your service with KASFAA, and more excited about what is to come.
Finally, after a very long absence, KASFAA is bringing back the annual Election Results & Awards Dinner. This will be a fun and more formal evening as we celebrate one another and the successes of our colleagues. There will be several surprises. This is something you will want to attend. It will be, without a doubt, an evening to remember. This will be my last major event as President of KASFAA. Let us end it on a high-Defying Gravity!
It has been an honor,
