presidents welcome

“Nobody is gonna hit as hard as life, but it ain’t how hard you can hit. It’s how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. It’s how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.”–Rocky Balboa

LIGHTS, CAMERA, KASFAA!!!!

Hooray for KASFFA, that screwy, ballyhooey KASFAA. Yes, we are bringing Hollywood to KASFAA, with all of the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, where you can be a KASFAA star. The conference committee is bringing to you a conference packed with a ton of relevant topics. The conference will be held at the Clarion Hotel in Lexington, KY, April 15-17, 2020, so plan on attending.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, KASFAA conference has something for everyone, from the new aid officer to the director level, public to proprietary, and semester to clock hour schools. This conference we are trying something new. We are offering a special track just for clock hour schools, and who better to speak on these topics than the star-studded Dave Bartnicki. Though he will not be able to attend the spring conference in person, he has agreed to present his sessions via web conference. This will be the last time Dave Bartnicki will be presenting at a KASFAA conference as he is furthering his career and will no longer be able to attend our conferences. Dave has been with us for many years, and has always provided valuable information for our colleges, and he will be missed. “We will miss you Dave.”

We will also have among us at the conference the glamorous Dana Kelly to present on a number of topics. We are always grateful for Dana to present for KASFAA. She is a true gem in the financial aid community. Last but certainly not least our current SASFAA president, Bill Spier will be attending the Spring Conference. The dashing Bill Spier will be providing the SASFAA update and encouraging involvement with SASFAA.

You do not want to miss our pre-conference and post-conference activities. The New Aid Workshop will once again be offered on Wednesday morning, which is an opportunity for our new aid administrators to get a chance for an intensive introduction to the financial aid profession. NASFAA U sessions will be offered as well. Wednesday morning of the conference, we will offer Campus-Based Programs and Consumer Information. Wednesday afternoon, Student Eligibility and Consumer information will continue. As a post-conference, Professional Judgment and Application Process will be offered Friday afternoon. Attendees will be charged $25 for each NASFAA U session attended. You will be saving over 83% of the NASFAA list price. This is quite a deal for attending a NASFAA U session.

In the spirit of giving that KASFAA is known for, we will once again raise money for the NEST in Lexington and KASFAA L·E·A·D. Be sure to bring your items for a silent auction and raffle drawings. Remember all proceeds to these great programs.

When thinking about dinner for Wednesday night, please consider going to dinner with one of our captivating vendors. Our vendors have selected a few restaurants within Lexington where they will be gathering to get to know you and for you to get to know them. They are going to be a different types of restaurants offering a variety of cuisines for you to choose from. They will only be coordinating the spot, dinner is still on your own financially. Be sure to stop by our Vendor tables throughout the conference and thank them for always supporting KASFAA!

What would LIGHTS, CAMERA, KASFAA be without an awards program. Gather up your office staff and film and act out your favorite movie scene. Who knows maybe you will win an award. So, be the Hollywood starlet you have always wanted to be and dress up and plan to attend the KASFAA Awards, Thursday Night.

Let’s bring Hollywood to Lexington and embody the stars at the KASFAA Spring conference in Lexington, KY, April 15-17 2020 for Lights, Camera, KASFA!!!!!
