President's Welcome

If you have missed seeing your KASFAA friends and colleagues, then you do not want to miss the Fall Conference in Louisville October 6-8 at the Holiday Inn Hurstbourne! “Homecoming” is our conference theme because it has been two years since our last in-person conference! The tools that allow us to connect virtually are wonderful, but most of us are eager for the chance to make more personal connections.

Opportunities to participate in NASFAA-U training will be offered pre-conference. Attendees will be able to test to earn NASFAA credentials. The pre-conference New Members Workshop is geared toward new KASFAA members who are also new to financial aid. A welcome for new KASFAA members who are not new to the profession will be held during Thursday’s President’s reception. Join us after dinner Wednesday for a fun-filled evening of Bingo, cornhole and desserts!

Our Program Chair, Angel Miller, and committee members have been working hard to deliver a robust and engaging program! Michael Morgan, SASFAA President-Elect, will bring us SASFAA greetings and participate in conference sessions! We are disappointed that the presenter for the federal sessions must be virtual, since our fed friends are unable to travel.

Thursday evening will offer dinner on your own with a twist. Conference attendees will have the option to be bused to a popular location with several restaurants and pubs within walking distance. Return transportation will also be provided at a designated time. You can catch a cab or Uber/Lyft if you are not ready when the bus returns to the hotel. We hope this gives people unfamiliar with Louisville the chance to experience terrific food and entertainment without the hassle of traffic and parking.

Shively Area Ministries (SAM) is our conference charity. The pandemic has pushed more people into homelessness and the need for food, shelter and other basic needs is greater than ever. Our support can help make a difference to people in crisis. Please consider supporting SAM by bringing items for raffle and silent auction prizes.

Please join us in October whether you are old or new to KASFAA – see old friends and make new ones!
