2022 Fall Conference

President's Welcome

It has been three years since we've had an in-person fall conference. Can you believe what we've been through during those three years? At a time when we needed them most, we were unable to hold in-person events. As we now emerge from the pandemic and unravel the new landscapes both within the profession and outside of it, I hope you’ll join us for the fall KASFAA conference to discuss some of the most important topics we face today. The conference theme of “Its all fun and games” is a lighthearted way of turning our very serious and complicated profession into something more enjoyable.

We held our first in-person spring conference earlier this year, and it was so good to get back into some real, live training and networking. More is in store this fall at the Holiday Inn – Louisville East October 12-14. I am delighted to welcome the immediate past NASFAA National Chair, Brent Tener, from Vanderbilt University to our conference. We will also have special visitors from the Office of Inspector General to give us updates from what they have been encountering, as well as a return visit from our colleagues in campus safety who were at the spring conference for a breakout session. You asked for this to be a general session at the fall conference, and we are happy to deliver.

The federal update will receive a much-needed overhaul. While the federal training offices of FSA continue to limit their presence at conferences, again, at a time when we need them the most, we are going to put a new twist on the federal update. FSA has published their federal update and we are going to use that presentation to turn this session into a panel discussion led by some of our most experienced and knowledgeable aid administrators. By doing this, we can dissect the update in a way that can be more engaging and collaborative.

Join these sessions and so many more breakout sessions at the fall conference. The conference committee, led by Michelle Standridge, has worked tirelessly to put together a very engaging and informative program for you. Make plans to join us in Louisville, where we will be excited to welcome you, in person!
