AI at Turbo Speed: Responsible AI Use in the Financial Aid Office (Concurrent Session)

October 29, 2026 | 10:45 AM-11:45 AM | Launch Pad Room

Artificial intelligence is changing the way financial aid professionals work—but faster doesn’t always mean better. As financial aid offices navigate increasing demands, complex regulations, staffing challenges, and students who expect immediate answers, AI can be a powerful tool for working smarter while keeping people at the center of the process.
This session will explore responsible, practical uses of AI in the financial aid office, with a focus on both student advising and staff productivity. KHEAA will demonstrate how financial aid professionals can use AI to simplify complex information, brainstorm communication strategies, create student-friendly explanations, develop training materials, streamline routine tasks, and support staff—while understanding the critical boundaries around accuracy, privacy, bias, and professional judgment.
Participants will leave with practical strategies and examples they can begin using immediately, along with a framework for determining when AI can accelerate the work, when it needs human oversight, and when it should not be used at all.
